Jersey Children’s Charity provides practical and financial support to children and families facing some of life’s most challenging moments. From enhancing hospital environments to helping families access vital treatment both on and off island, our work ensures no family has to face these times alone.
About Jersey Children's Charity
Jersey Children’s Charity was founded in 2011 to support the incredible staff at the hospital who care for children in the Special Care Baby Unit and Robin Ward.
Through further research, we identified a growing need to also support families whose children require treatment in the UK, as well as to fund medication and medical equipment not covered by the States of Jersey.
In our first year, we were awarded a £6,000 grant from the Jersey Water 100th Anniversary Fund, which enabled us to purchase a Baby Pod Transportation Unit for Robin Ward. This vital equipment allows for the safe transfer of infants from Jersey to the UK for specialist care.
In 2015, we launched our Parent Pack initiative in partnership with Santander International. These packs provide essential supplies for families who find themselves staying unexpectedly on Robin Ward, offering comfort and practical support during a challenging time.
Today, we continue to work closely with Family First to provide vital financial support to families whose children are receiving treatment in the UK. Through this partnership, we help fund flights, accommodation, transport, subsistence, childcare and other associated costs - ensuring families can remain together and focus on their child’s care without additional financial strain.
Over the years, we have remained committed to enhancing the environment on Robin Ward. In addition to funding equipment such as toys, uniforms, DVDs and a 3D Distraction Centre to ease the stress of treatment, we are proud to have now completed our latest project in collaboration with local artist Steph Newington. The introduction of vibrant murals throughout the ward has helped transform the space into a brighter, more welcoming and reassuring environment for young patients and their families.
We continue to support dozens of families each year, both on and off the island. Our small but dedicated team remains committed to providing practical, emotional and financial support to Jersey families during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
